NORTH SEA JAZZ FESTIVAL

Kers op de taart, klap op de vuurpijl, of hoe je het maar noemen wilt: een selectie van deelnemers aan de Summer Jazz Workshops speelt mee in de Keep an Eye Concert Jazz Band op het North Sea Jazz Festival!

De Keep an Eye Concert Jazz Band van het Conservatorium van Amsterdam brengt op vrijdag 10 juli a.s. een programma gewijd aan een van de beroemdste bigband-opnamen uit de jaren negentig: Joe Hendersons Big Band.
Saxofonist, componist en arrangeur Joe Henderson werd diep beïnvloed door de orkestrale sound van de bigband-jazz die hij als tiener in de jaren vijftig hoorde, met name de muziek van Stan Kenton. Ook de muziek van klassieke meesters als Stravinsky en Bartók oefende grote invloed op hem uit.
Het resultaat: ingenieuze orkestraties met rijke harmonische variaties. Onder leiding van Justin DiCioccio en met solist Jesse van Ruller zet de Keep an Eye Concert Jazz Band Hendersons werk in de schijnwerpers.
De Keep an Eye Concert Jazz Band is een gezamenlijk project van het Conservatorium van Amsterdam en de Keep an Eye Foundation.
