'Keep an Eye International Jazz Award 2014
New York - Helsinki - Philadelphia - Graz - Amsterdam
Two bands from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam will compete against ensembles from Manhattan School of Music - New York, Temple University - Philadelphia, Sibelius Academy - Helsinki and University of Performing Arts - Graz, during the Keep an Eye International Jazz Award 2014 at the Bimhuis, Amsterdam.
This year the competition has a 'Monk' theme. Each band will arrange one Thelonious Monk song, which will be played at the International Final. Additionally, each band will play at least one original composition.
Artist in Residence and band coach is trumpeter and Director of Jazz Studies at Temple University (Philadelphia) Terell Stafford.
The jury will consist of musicians, educators and professionals from the cultural world, with amongst others saxophonist Benjamin Herman and Jan Jasper Tamboer, journalist for Het Parool, Jazzism, Jazzenzo and 8weekly'.
